Year-round programming including the Summer Festival, featuring the Breckenridge Music Festival Orchestra, in residence each summer; Chamber music in intimate settings; Blue River Series jazz, blues and bluegrass, roots rock country and many other musical styles; and a Winter Series of concerts.

Breckenridge Music Festival brings great music to residents and visitors of Summit County.

The Breckenridge Music Festival is supported by funding from the Colorado Creative Industries Division, a state agency, and the National Endowment for the Arts, a federal agency.

SDN Article: The BMF raises $2k to support music in Summit middle and high schools


The Breckenridge Music Festival’s March 21 concert, ‘Elizabeth Hainen and Friends,’ raised $2,000 to support music in Summit middle and high schools. The concert at CMC’s Finkel Auditorium, was designated to support Summit Fine Arts for Youth, a program to benefit music programs in local schools. Marcia Kaufman, right, executive director of BMF presented a check to the SMS music program recently.

Applause! Presents: Casino Royale, March 22, 2012

As part of Thursday’s Casino Royale fundraiser for the Breckenridge Music Festival, attendees will be treated to the soothing sounds of local jazz ensemble the Trading Fours Jazz Band, led by Breckenridge’s Alton Scales.

“What we play is traditional jazz with a splattering of Latin jazz,” Scales said. When not playing drums in a jazz band, Scales can be found behind his desk as the CEO of the Colorado Mountain College, Summit Campuses. Scales came to CMC from Edinboro University of Pennsylvania five years ago.

Orchestral excerpts:
Mozart Symphony 39 – 4th mvmt. (standard excerpts)
Brahms Symphony No. 2 – 2nd mvmt. (standard excerpts)
Schumann Symphony No. 2 – Scherzo: beginning to Trio and Coda
Strauss Don Juan – 1st page
Chamber music – a recording of a performance, if available
