The wildflowers should be at their peak as we hike to beautiful Mohawk Lakes with many “learning stops” along the way. You’ll be sure to gain a wealth of information about our wondrous alpine flora as you take in the breathtaking beauty of our beloved Rocky Mountains. An added bonus of this year’s hike will be - no lunch to pack and carry! Instead you’ll be treated to a simple and delicious alfresco luncheon on the deck of the “Calderini Cabin”. No wildflowers there - just lots of flower pots and views of imposing Mt. Baldy. As always, Nancy will be available to answer all your alpine flora questions. Get your #*%@’s up the Pass (this time it’s Hoosier) and down into the world of Park County where you’ll experience some of the best of what’s so special about this extraordinary place.
Here’s the drill: First you’ll drive through the unforgettable little town of Alma on the road to Fairplay where we’ll all meet at the South Park City Museum (South Park City is the carefully restored site of old Fairplay and dates back to the late 1800’s). Here you’ll be treated to a guided tour of both the museum and historic site by non other than Erik Swanson, he of Park County history and story teller fame. Then it’s back to Alma for a late and great buffet lunch (including unlimited beer and wine!) at the local’s favorite and always colorful, South Park Saloon. Proprietor, Joel Weston, has promised to go all out for our gang!. Then it’s home again over the Pass where you’ll have to say, “This was a perfect way to spend a fine summer's day!”.
