The Breckenridge Music Festival is pleased to present its annual BRASS CONCERT, featuring the ever-talented brass section of the Breckenridge Music Festival Orchestra. The evening’s program will consist of: Hanson’s, Fanfare for Mountains and Plains, Byrd/Allen’s, Earl of Oxford’s March, Bach/Allen’s, Little Fugue in G Minor, Respighi’s, Ancient Airs and Dances, Strauss’s, Fanfare Stadt Wien, and Woud’s, The Call; Brass Presented.
Brass ensembles have a long and distinguished history, with both the British and German Brass Band traditions creating enthusiastic followings in the United States as well as in their countries of origin. A strong tradition of composing for brass ensemble, as well as of creating transcriptions of works originally for other instrumentation, has built a repertoire which encompasses music from the Renaissance Period through the most contemporary era, including popular, sacred and art music of all styles.
Influenced perhaps by the traditional brass-players’ characteristic irreverence for protocol and tendency to quirky senses of humor, the Breckenridge Music Festival’s annual Brass Concert features the entertaining blend of excellent music and enjoyable personalities which Festival audiences have come to expect. This evening’s “Brass á la Breck” is sure to answer all expectations for an enjoyable evening at the Riverwalk Center.
