Blue River Series Concert: Leo Kottke

After his steller performance in 2009,  acoustic guitar virtuoso and singer-songwriter,   Leo Kottke will be returning to the Riverwalk Center stage for this year’s Blue River Series .

This two-time Grammy nominee is known for his innovative finger-picking style and draws influences from blues, jazz, and folk music.

Blue River Series Concert: Todd Park Mohr

Lead singer/songwriter of “Big Head Todd and the Monsters,” one of Colorado’s most popular rock bands, Todd Park Mohr will be playing an acoustic show for the Blue River Series.  Expect to hear old hits, covers, new songs, and classic blues songs from his latest tour which paid respect to the late great blues legend Robert Johnson.

Blue River Series Concert: Great Big Sea

Great Big Sea Great Big Sea will take the Riverwalk Center stage on July 15th for the BMF’s  Blue River Series.

In an attempt to create a new approach to Newfoundland folk music, Great Big  Sea combines their original music with the traditional sounds and instruments they  grew up with. With their roots in St. John’s rowdy pubs, Great Big Sea has come to define the energetic spirit of Newfoundland.

On Saturday August 21st, Asleep At The Wheel will take the stage once again at the Riverwalk Center.  This Western Swing band has won nine Grammys including 2001 for best Vocal Performance By A Duo or Group, for “Cherokee Maiden”.  According to Rolling Stone Magazine: “One of the most popular and acclaimed bands of it’s genre”

Coming back to the Riverwalk Center on Sunday, August 1st for his first appearance in Breckenridge since 2007 will be Dan Hicks and the Hot Licks.  Dan Hicks and the Hot Licks are hard to categorize, but not hard to listen to.  Ranging from folk, bluegrass, jazz, swing, country and pop to gypsy music, Dan Hicks is a phenomenal performer and entertainer who will get anyone and everyone on their feet.

BRS CONCERT: MARC COHN

Rounding out the Breckenridge Music Festival’s Blue River Series, Grammy Award Winner Marc Cohn will appear on Sunday, August 15th.  Singer-songwriter, pianist, and acoustic and electric guitarist, Cohn is often described as one of the most personal, most introspective lyricists of his generation.  With many hits including “Walking in Memphis,” “Dig Down Deep” and “True Companion,” and a brand new album being released just two weeks before this concert, Cohn’s show will be a fantastic ending to the 2010 BRS.
