Summer Festival

The five-week summer festival at the Riverwalk Center, the flagship program of the Breckenridge Music Festival, is built upon the versatility of the BMF orchestral instrumentalists.

Equally at home in classical music, small ensembles, and orchestral pops concerts, the musicians of the Festival Orchestra fill the Riverwalk Center hall with ten orchestral, five chamber, and a variety of eclectic concerts from mid-July through August each summer.

The heart of the Breckenridge Music Festival, the Festival Orchestra is an established ensemble of professional musicians drawn from symphony orchestras across the nation, in residence for the summer season.

Summertime is a great time to kick back and enjoy the lighter side of music, and the Orchestral Pops Series is designed to let you do just that.

 Tuesday Chamber

chamberStraight from the heart of the musicians, the Festival Chamber Series is programmed with intimate chamber works suggested for Riverwalk Center audiences by the performers themselves.

Chamber music—music for small ensembles with one player on a part—is performed without conductor because it is led from within the group as each player fits his or her musical line into the tapestry of the composer’s intentions. Many composers have created some of their finest work for chamber ensembles, and the Festival Chamber Series’ growing audience is evidence that this music connects with listeners.

Champagne Chamber

160724jk-champagne-020The Champagne Series offers nine concerts of chamber music in private homes around Summit County. Chamber music was an art form originally enjoyed in the home, and the homes of our gracious Summit County hosts offer the listener a front-row seat to become immersed in the interplay of musical lines and discover the individual personalities of the players.

Champagne Series concerts are offered as both evening and as brunch events. The intimate settings, the music prefaced by brunch or hors d’oeuvres and champagne followed by dessert, and the chance to meet the performers in person, are often mentioned as highlights of their festival experiences by concert guests.

Fringe Series

Sila: The Breath of the World

Expect the unexpected with our musical fringe series. To us, this means:

- Finding adventure in appealing new combinations of musicians and instruments.
– Combining music with the visual arts, performance arts, and the written word.
– Inviting guest artists who can play it straight with the best artists classical music has to offer, but also   delight in taking an improvisational approach.

With this “fringe” portion of our programming, the Breckenridge Music Festival is especially pleased to be partnering with Breckenridge Creative Arts as a participant in the Breckenridge International Festival of the Arts.
